Your data, plainly explained.

SMASHIO ("we", "us") runs the SMASHIO app and smashio.com.au. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you're in control of it. We're an Australian company and we only collect what we need to get you onto a court.

What we collect

Account details: name, email, and profile photo when you sign up, including via Apple or Google sign-in.
Profile info: skill tier, playing history, and preferences you add to your profile.
Location: approximate or precise location, only while using the app, to show nearby games and courts.
Game activity: games you host, join, or complete, and ratings tied to those games.
Messages: chat messages you send in a game's group chat, visible to other players in that game.
Device and usage data: crash logs, app version, basic analytics, and a device push token used to send you game notifications.
Waitlist signups: email address, if you join our early-access list on this site.

Why we collect it

To match you with games and players near you.
To run the reliability and skill-tier system that keeps games fair.
To send you notifications about games you're part of (you can turn these off).
To fix bugs and improve the app.
To let you know when SMASHIO launches in your city, if you've joined the waitlist.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with:

Other players: your name, photo, tier, reliability record, and any chat messages you send are visible to players in games you join or host.
Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Sentry (crash reporting), and Apple/Google (sign-in), who process data on our behalf under their own security standards.
Law enforcement: only if legally required.

Cookies

This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may see your IP address as part of that request.

Your controls

Edit or delete your profile information at any time from the app.
Turn off location access or notifications in your device settings.
Request a copy of your data or full account deletion by emailing hello@smashio.com.au.
Unsubscribe from waitlist emails via the link in any email we send.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, and access to your data is limited to what's needed to run the service.

Children

SMASHIO isn't intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll notify active users in-app or by email before the change takes effect.
